Town Hall Happenings

August 13th, 2009

There have been lots of fun goings-on at town hall meetings this week.  Just a sampling:

Ben Cardin (D-MD) tried to use Medicare as an example of well-run government healthcare, seemingly forgetting that Medicare is on the verge of bankruptcy.

At President Obama’s town hall meeting, he “randomly” called on a little girl to ask a question during his town hall meeting.  What a shocker to find out she is the daughter of a big Obama supporter and that the question was a plant!  The bigger question, according to Just One Minute, is “Why is he calling on kids anyway?”

Obama then went on to talk about how UPS and FedEx are doing great while the post office is always having trouble.  This comment was supposed to ease fears that private insurance would be put out of business, but the unintended communication was that private companies perform better than ones run by the government.  Take him off the teleprompter and the odds are good he will stick his foot in his mouth.

But his dumbest comment of the day had to be when he accused doctors of doing unnecessary amputations so they could make more money.  The American College of Surgeons immediately responded, claiming that the President had acted stupidly.

That may have been the dumbest comment, but the biggest lie is when he stated “I have not said that I am a supporter of a single payer system.”  He also must be completely unaware of a little website called Youtube.

Obama’s town hall meeting wasn’t the only one with planted questioners.  When Representative Sheila Jackson Lee wasn’t talking on her cell phone, she was taking a question from a fake doctor.

If they ever do succeed in passing any healthcare legislation, I hope it has coverage for psychiatric treatment, because some of these people have gone completely crazy.
