Math is easier when you just make up the numbers
September 12th, 2009
The Obama administration is claiming the stimulus has “saved or created” one million jobs. Since 2.5 million jobs have been lost since the stimulus was passed, I can only assume that they have to kill 1.5 jobs for every one they create, which doesn’t seem like a pretty sorry job creation mechanism.
Also, since most of those “saved or created” jobs are temporary jobs or even unpaid jobs, the number becomes even more fictitious as to its stimulative effect. Math may be easier when you make up the numbers, but it doesn’t change reality. Words alone work on the campaign trail, but the campaign’s over and it’s actions that will speak now. At this point, Obama is still campaigning and hoping nobody notices there isn’t any action behind his oratory.
