Picking basketball champs appears to be the only prediction Obama has made that worked out well, because he hasn’t been close on anything else. First, he predicted that unemployment would not go above 8% if they passed the stimulus. It’s at 9.4% right now, and that’s only because so many government jobs have been added; the private sector is continuing to shrink.
Now that Obama is on vacation, he must think people won’t notice today’s news that several more of his predictions have proven to be nothing more than wildly optimistic guesses. GDP decline is twice as bad as the White House predicted it would be. Also, the deficit for this year is 15% worse than Obama claimed and he was off on the long-term deficit figures by only $2 trillion. At this point, I wouldn’t trust him if he predicted the sun would come up tomorrow.
